At CAN Goods, we love working with personal collectors and interior designers to create fabulous textiles that suit their needs. Each piece will be a considered textile with CAN’s keen eye for unique color relationships and bold design.

How does it work?

Each custom piece starts with a free 30 minute consultation. This can happen either on Zoom or in person in Grand Marais, MN. We will discuss the project and look over work samples and colors together to decide if we are a good fit. If the stars align, we will begin to work on your custom piece together. You can share inspiration in the form of fabric samples, paint color swatches, and design ideas to begin the piece. We will take all of your inspiration and craft a digital mockup of the project design, as well as physical yarn color samples for your approval.

What materials do you weave with?

We believe in high quality natural materials, including wool, linen, and cotton. Synthetics can be applied as needed.

How long does it take to create a custom textile?

From the time it is approved, the piece will take up to 24 weeks, but lead times vary so we will discuss this when the design has been approved. We will be honest with the length of the time needed to complete each piece. Narrowing in the right design and securing material sourcing can sometimes take months, so it’s best to begin the process with plenty of time for delivery!

How much does it cost?

Because of the large range of variables in a custom textile, costs will be assessed on a case by case basis. If you have a specific budget in mind, please let us know in advance. The minimum for a custom project is $500. A 20% nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your custom project in the queue. From there, customers pay 50% of the remaining balance upon approval of the design, and 50% of balance before receiving the piece. Customers pay for shipping.

“At Prospect Refuge Studio, we love collaborating with Christine on custom textiles for very special projects. Together we have dreamt up materials for windows, walls, and floors! She takes the time to educate as well as inspire us every step of the way and the end result is deeply personal and thoughtful, down to the very last thread.”
